Children First Northamptonshire’s Young People’s Service offers intensive support to young people and their families with identified complex support needs, where they are at risk of poor outcomes due to problems in the level of care and parenting they receive, and where they experience difficulties at home, school and the environments they frequent.

This role is part of a new approach to medium term support within the young people’s t service which will be provided through a mentoring programme being commissioned through Public Health. Young people will be identified for mentoring support through the Young People’s referral pathway.

This role requires the mentor to act as a trusted adult, helping prevent young people becoming involved in, or reducing their involvement in, potentially harmful situations and to give them access to someone who is in a professional role who will support them to reduce their risk of exploitation, criminality and violence and to promote positive outcomes for young people through mentoring, advocacy and a caring and supportive approach.
