The assessment teams are fast paced, lively and interesting. The Senior Practitioner role requires an experienced Social Worker who is proactive and adaptable, and who has a passion for ensuring that Children and Families in our area receive a positive and timely experience of our service. The work is immensely rich and varied day-to-day and allows for a high level of multi-agency working often to tight timelines.

But we aren’t what you might think a typical local government organisation looks like. We understand the work you do on a daily basis and we provide the support you need to make a difference to children throughout Cambridgeshire. Senior Practitioners will have a reduced caseload to ensure that they can support the Team Manager and line manage staff within the team.

Our range of benefits, designed specifically for social workers and senior practitioners, include a competitive salary between £39,120 - £42,137, retention scheme with increasing bonus’ over 3 three years, relocation package of up to £8,000, generous annual leave entitlement (28 days plus Bank Holidays), local government pension scheme and agile working.

Please see our benefits brochure attached for more details.

You must be a qualified social worker with current SW England registration and substantial post-qualification experience. We are looking for committed and enthusiastic workers that know good practice and have great mentoring and leadership skills.

We currently have vacancies in the following teams:
Huntingdon Team
Fenland Team – based in Wisbech
Cambridge City Team - currently based in Shire Hall, central Cambridge but shortly moving to refurbished premises in Trumpington.

Applications are reviewed on a daily basis, please do not delay the submission of your application as this is a rolling advert and will be closed once a successful candidate has been found.

We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Cambridgeshire and want our workforce to reflect this diversity, which we believe is beneficial for our employees, the organisation and the communities we serve.

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
