An exciting opportunity has arisen for 1 full time Best Interests Assessor (12-month Fixed Contract) with the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team at Cambridgeshire County Council.

You will be working in a dedicated and passionate team of Best Interest Assessors and will be supported by an admin team and the MCA DoLS Team Manager.

You will be assisting the Supervisory Body in its statutory role and functions which will include the screening of applications in accordance with the ADASS’s priority tool, quality assuring mental health assessors and offering shadowing/mentoring opportunities to trainee BIAs.

You will work to a high professional standard and will receive one to one supervision as week as monthly team meetings and ad hoc sessions. You will be able to access a range of training and personal development opportunities.

You will be a qualified Best Interest Assessor which means that you are either a qualified social worker, nurse or an occupational therapist or psychologist with at least two years post qualifying experience.

You will need to have excellent working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act including the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and associated legal updates. You also need to possess good all-round knowledge of Adult Social Care and related legislations such as the Mental Health Act and the Care Act.

You will work 37 hours a week and will be based at Scott House, with agile working, although the role will demand travel across the whole county and at times across neighbouring counties.
