Bernard Sunley Centre
Closing date:

We currently have a permanent, 29.6 hours a week, Business Officer post available, working for the Early Years and Childcare Service.

This post will be based at Bernard Sunley Centre, Papworth Everard but we are currently working from home and unsure when we will return to the office. We are a flexible employer and hope to have a hybrid working environment when we do return to the office.

You will need a good working knowledge of all Windows & Microsoft packages (including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Internet) and experience of using databases. You should be self-motivated, flexible and have excellent organisational skills alongside the ability to manage your own workload, prioritise and forward plan. The role will require you to provide high quality administrative support to the wider team including arranging meetings, processing financial transactions and minute taking.

You will need to be a good team worker but also have the ability to work on your own initiative when required and keep calm under pressure to meet tight deadlines. You must have strong problem solving skills and the ability to take a hands-on role and work independently. You should have a methodical and concise approach to tasks and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
The role involves liaising with colleagues, professionals and members of the public over the phone, by email and, on occasion, face-to-face, so excellent communication skills are essential. An understanding of confidentiality and data protection is imperative.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience within the Local Authority and develop knowledge and understanding of the Early Years and Childcare sectors.

We offer:
• A salary offered at Scale 4, SCPs 7 to 11 (£20,092 - £21,748 )
• Excellent index-linked, defined benefit pension scheme including life assurance benefits
• Outstanding occupational, sick, maternity/paternity, and shared parental leave schemes – well above the statutory minimum
• Generous annual leave entitlement increasing with length of service and ability to buy more
• Training and development

If you are interested in this opportunity and have questions about the role or job area, please contact Julie Khalique at
Please evidence on your supporting statement how you meet the essential criteria of the person specification.

We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Cambridgeshire and want our workforce to be reflective of this diversity, which we believe benefits our employees, the organisation, and our communities.
