The starting salary is £11.50 per hour. These are part-time posts with the flexibility to clerk multiple schools and increase hours.

The School Governance Team runs a clerking service for Cambridgeshire schools - Camclerks. We are seeking to appoint clerks to deliver a high quality service providing support and advice to governing bodies to help them fulfil their strategic role of ensuring schools provide the best possible education for their pupils.

The main duties of the post will include; producing agendas and minutes to a consistently high standard, providing advice to the governing body on governance legislation and procedural matters, planning and facilitating governing body meetings in consultation with the chair of governors and headteacher and maintaining records of governing body business and membership.

You will need excellent administrative, IT and communication skills, the ability to work to deadlines and flexibility to work at times convenient to the governing body.

Camclerks are classed as homeworkers as most of the work can be undertaken on a flexible basis at home. However, they are expected to attend governing body meetings which are generally held at the school in the evening.

Camclerks hours and pay are based on 6 full governing body meetings per year. A small homeworking allowance and a Camclerk allowance are also paid monthly. There are likely to be opportunities to clerk additional governing body committee meetings and/or provide locum cover. We encourage clerks to work in more than one school to gain a better understanding and share good practice.

Full training and support will be provided to candidates who demonstrate the necessary skills. There is an expectation that regular training and development will be undertaken to maintain knowledge and develop practice.

We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Cambridgeshire and want our workforce to be reflective of this diversity, which we believe benefits our employees, the organisation and our communities.

Due to an increased demand for our service, we currently have vacancies in the following areas: Cambridge City and surrounding villages, Cambourne, St Ives, St Neots, Huntingdon, Burwell & villages near Soham.

Previous unsuccessful applicants need not apply.

Interviews will take place virtually on 18th November 2021.

For an informal discussion please call Anna-Marie Cooper on 01223 715322.
