This is a new position focussed on developing the successful management of the Grafham Water Centre Catering department, so it is a great opportunity for someone to make the position their own and have a real impact!

We are looking for a dedicated and motivated individual who is committed to leading a team to deliver the best service to our customers and staff – a smile and a sense of humour is a must! We will be looking for the following in our ideal candidate:

• Level 3/Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate (Training can be given)
• Level 2 Catering/Cooking qualification e.g. NVQ 2 or City and Guilds 706/2
• Management/supervisory experience
• Excellent customer service skills
• Sound knowledge of health, safety and hygiene practices
• Ability to motivate a team and individuals

Grafham Water Centre is a popular Outdoor Learning Centre based on the shores of Grafham Water reservoir in Perry, Cambridgeshire. We are a lively and busy residential centre catering for a wide range of school and youth groups as well as offering courses for both adults and children. We also cater for corporate and conference bookings. At the heart of all our work is our vision to change young people’s lives.

The post holder will be expected to spend some shifts chefing, with the rest of the time focussed on managing the department’s staff, resources and budgets. The Chef Manager will ensure the highest standards of food quality, health and safety, and customer service. They will manage and motivate the team, providing support and training where necessary to ensure a high quality operation.

• 37 hours per week.
• Some early morning, early evening and weekend work on a shift rota basis. A typical chef shift is 06.30-14.30 or 11.30 – 19.30, office shift times can be agreed.
• Salary £23,398 - £24,964 (hourly rate £12.13 - £12.94).
• 31 days paid annual leave per annum (inc. lieu time for Bank holidays), increasing with service.
