Fixed Term for Two Years

This is an exciting new opportunity for you to act as a champion to promote the vitality and vibrancy of the Chesterton/ Mitcham’s Corner area and actively contribute to its continuous improvement as a neighbourhood retail area of Cambridge through the development of a Chesterton/ Mitcham’s Corner Partnership. This will provide a mechanism for all local businesses, organisations and groups to work together collaboratively to improve the trading environment in this area.

You will take the lead in the development and implementation of a Chesterton/ Mitcham’s Corner Action Plan developed in consultation with the local business community. A key part of the role will be to develop a culture of effective partnership working with all Chesterton/ Mitcham’s Corner organisations and other city centre organisations, acting as a catalyst and facilitator helping to identify common ground. A key part of the role will be to develop a sustainable funding model for the Chesterton/ Mitcham’s Corner Association to ensure that the work developed can continue in the longer term.

With an innovative approach to problem solving and securing solutions, you will have the ability to understand the issues affecting the management and development of high streets, taking into consideration cultural diversity. Experienced in partnership working, and negotiating and working with a wide range of organisations across public, private and voluntary sectors, you will have the ability to motivate others to deliver objectives.You will need to have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and be self-motivated, with the ability to work alone or in a supporting role.
