We are looking for a dedicated and motivated individual who is committed to leading a team to deliver the best service to our customers and staff – a smile and a sense of humour is a must! We will be looking for the following in our ideal candidate:

• A higher level outdoor activity qualification; ability to act as technical advisor in one area of activity delivered at the Centre
• A variety of instructor qualifications in activities taught at the Centre
• Management/supervisory experience
• Budget Management experience
• Excellent customer service skills
• Sound knowledge of health, safety and risk management practices
• Ability to motivate a team and individuals

ABOUT US

Grafham Water Centre is a popular Outdoor Learning Centre based on the shores of Grafham Water reservoir in Perry, Cambridgeshire. We are a lively and busy residential centre catering for a wide range of school and youth groups as well as offering courses for both adults and children. We also cater for corporate and conference bookings. At the heart of all our work is our vision to change young people’s lives.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The post holder will be expected to work with one other Chief Instructor in the management of the activity/education provision, ensuring that a quality, safe service is delivered to our customers.
You will be responsible for planning programmes that allow opportunities for growth and utilise our resources in an efficient way. The Centre employs a large instructor team and it will be your role to lead, inspire and develop them. We are subject to various inspections throughout the year and we would expect the Chief Instructors to manage or contribute towards these.

HOURS, PAY & BENEFITS

• 37 hours per week, including some evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
• Salary £23,886 - £25,463 (hourly rate £12.37 - £13.20).
• 23 days paid annual leave per annum (increasing with service), plus time in lieu for bank holidays.
