Community Development Worker

• £25,868pa
• Full-time 37 hours
• Four Year Fixed Term

Are you passionate about working with local communities to improve their health? There is an exciting opportunity to work with local communities in Northamptonshire to understand local assets and needs and coproduce solutions to build stronger communities and improve wellbeing. The post will be focussing on the Inclusion Health Agenda across the West Northamptonshire area, and will be working with vulnerable groups, including people who are homeless, sex workers, offenders, gypsies and travellers or asylum seekers and migrants, to understand their needs and to work with them to improve health and wellbeing outcomes.

Who we are:

West Northamptonshire Council is the single unitary council responsible for providing a range of public services to residents and businesses in the areas of Northampton, Daventry and South Northants. These posts are funded by Northamptonshire Public Health and will be embedded within local communities and will have a key role in working in partnership with local organisations and people.

Your role:

The key focus of the roles will be:

- To build strong partnerships across the community, with various agencies and services to help address health inequalities and to improve health and wellbeing

- To develop community resilience, early intervention and prevention activities, and to increase access to related services

We are really keen to hear from people who are passionate about working with their local communities and are skilled in engagement.
The ability to travel between sites across the West of Northamptonshire is critical to this post.

Next steps:

If you like what you have read and want to know about the role then please contact Vicki Rockall, Community Safety & Engagement Manager on 07568 579655 or email Victoria.rockall@westnorthants.gov.uk

This role is part of a countywide programme to improve health inequalities, where we are working in partnership with North Northamptonshire Council and Public Health, and as such, there are similar roles also being advertised through the North Northamptonshire Council. If you would like to be considered for the same role in the North area of the county, you will need to submit a separate application.

You will be required to provide a personal statement, as part of the application form, to demonstrate how you meet the person specification.

We actively encourage applications from people from ethnic minorities, and people who perceive themselves to be disabled. This is to address an under representation of these groups.
