We are looking for an enthusiastic and versatile person to help us shape the future of Cambridgeshire Libraries. We maintain a high-quality public library service, working in partnership with a range of other organisations and community groups.

You will be enthusiastic about what public libraries can offer and who are able to promote our services. Although there is plenty of routine work, there is also scope to be creative. Training will be given on specific library systems, but an ability to work with IT is assumed. Although library experience is an advantage, we would also like to hear from candidates who have demonstrated exceptional customer service and/or interpersonal skills in other contexts.

The successful candidate will have a flair for working with people and be able to create a friendly and welcoming environment for a diverse range of customers. You will be excellent at multi-tasking and be quick and efficient, with an ability to thrive within a busy and vibrant library service.

This is a full-time post and you will be required to work at both Wisbech and Whittlesey Libraries. At Wisbech you would work as part of a larger team, but our smaller library in Whittlesey is single-staffed, so this post would involve some lone-working.
Candidates must be able to travel between the two libraries as required and work flexibly, with a requirement for some weekend and evening working.

We want to recognise and celebrate the diversity of our local communities and be responsive to their needs. We also want to ensure that we are a fair and equitable employer, striving to achieve a diverse and culturally competent workforce. We therefore encourage applications from all areas of our community.

Interviews will be held on Monday 6th June 2022 at Whittlesey Library.

Applications must be made online via this system, CV’s or other attachments are not accepted.
We also strongly recommend that all applicants read the “Guidance on applying for a Job” document, which can be found by clicking on “General Information for Applicants” under “Further Information for this job”.
Please note that library work is physically demanding; see the Job Hazards information for more details.
