Reporting to and working directly with the Open Spaces & Facilities Manager, your duties will include assisting in providing advice to Officers, elected Members, external groups and members of the public on the welfare, protection status, maintenance of existing trees and the planting of new trees. You will support the Grounds Maintenance Team Leader with managing arbricultural works and providing specialist arbicultural advice for our in house team. You will be required to Survey and manage existing tree stock on Council owned / managed land throughout the district, providing surveys on a commercial basis for third parties when required.

You will assist with the creation and implementation of Tree preservation orders, carry out risk assessments on the tree stock, update tree management records, and the enforcement of any condition affecting trees made as part of planning consent and tree preservation orders and in conservation areas, and deal with applications for work on protected trees. You will also attend and present evidence at Appeals, Inquiries and in Court on tree protection and enforcement.

With a recognised arboricultural or forestry qualification, you will have experience of providing specialist arboricultural advice and managing planting schemes. You will be computer literate, able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills, and have experience of dealing with the public and arboricultural professionals. A driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential, with insurance to cover business use.
