West Northamptonshire Council’s Facilities Management team are looking for an experienced FM Assistant to join our team. Working within the local FM team reporting into the FM officer.

Reporting into the FM officer the FM assistant is the day to day contact with services and other stakeholders relating to the Facilities Management activities, predominantly in the Towcester area (The Forum, Tove Depot) but operating across the Council buildings as required.
To be responsible for the unlocking and locking of the buildings and ensuring a safe and secure environment. Ensuring both buildings are kept clean and professional, setting up meeting rooms and organising refreshments, monitoring visitors & deliveries to the building with security in mind. General DIY are required including first fix solutions for general faults and repairs, manual handling, first aid, janitorial duties, fire warden knowledge. Also, softer skills such as Health & Safety, conflict management and operational supervision of cleaners and security as well as general customer service skills.

Main accountabilities:

• To ensure full compliance with all aspects of the Health and Safety Act 1974 and associated regulations relating to the Council’s property facilities in order to protect the health and safety of staff, visitors and the public.
• To identify and achieve excellent relationships with all facilities management stakeholders, including property occupiers and visitors, contractors, suppliers and partners.
• To achieve full compliance of all facilities management contracts for works and services for their areas of responsibility, cleaning, security, grounds maintenance, waste and pest control in order to ensure the availability and fitness for purpose of the facilities at all times. To monitor, review and record performance by formal and structured contract management procedures in order to achieve the highest standards of contractor performance.
• To organise and manage the in-house facilities management team, providing the direction, support and motivational necessary to achieve the Council’s objectives.
• To proactively develop new and existing policies and processes for the provision and management facilities services in order to meet evolving user expectations of headquarters accommodation.

About you

You’ll need:

• A relevant FM and health & safety qualification or equivalent experience
• Experience of delivering / supporting FM services across a property portfolio.
• First Aid trained
• Fire warden trained & Experience in managing Fire Safety
