The Community Protection Department currently have a vacancy for a full time administrator to help ensure that our Inspecting Officers work efficiently and effectively to keep people safe and well.

The Protection Department is an excellent team of dedicated officers who are both professional in their role and supportive to all colleagues.

The work can be fast paced, and unpredictable at times. as the team respond to daily issues from fire crews, the public and partner agencies such as the police, CQC, Local Authorities. You will therefore need experience working in a busy office environment and of working with partners in different agencies to ensure that work coming in is recorded and actioned appropriately.

As our co-ordinator, you will need to have experience that will enable you to carry out all administrative tasks relating to the role, including keeping accurate records on our databases and systems.

You will need to have a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills and be mindful of differing individual needs when dealing with members of the public. Being able to build trust and rapport with partner agencies is an important part of the role.

The post requires someone who is willing to learn, develop and work within the challenging environment. In addition to the day to day role there will be a requirement for the post holder to review activities conducted, offer constructive challenge of the reasons and methods used and document this as required.

You must hold a full, current and valid driving license to enable you to drive service vehicles if needed.

This is a full time role but there can be some flexibility with start and finish times.
The role will be dynamic and once the post holder gains relevant experience, it will allow a flexible approach to be discussed and agreed with respect to hours, flexible working and location.

This role will require working from joint Fire and Police buildings; as such, it will require the post holder to undergo a Police vetting process, any offer of a position would be reliant upon a satisfactory clearance to NPPV level 2.The successful applicants must have a right to work in the UK. Under the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006, all employers have a responsibility to prevent illegal working in the UK. Under sections 15-25 of the Act employers are required to make document checks on every person they intend to employ. It is a criminal offence to employ someone who has no right to work in the UK.

In accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 (Fluency Duty), the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.


This post is open to existing NCFRA staff, either as a secondment or as a fixed term NCFRA contract, which could be applicable to staff who are currently within the On-Call system.
