Are you looking for a new, affordable home as well as some additional work? Would you like to help end rough sleeping in Cambridge?

The post advertised is a brand-new role, linked to the council’s plans to launch Housing First for Cambridge. Housing First offers a new deal for individuals with a long-term history of homelessness – offering secure, self-contained accommodation as well as an open-ended offer of support to ensure they never return to sleeping rough.

As a custodian, you’ll be required to live alongside two Housing First tenants, paying an affordable rent in a newly built one-bedroomed property in the south of the city. You’ll be expected to act as a point of contact between Housing First tenants and support staff, with the overall aim of seeing people integrated into the wider community.

The successful candidate will have the ability to form and maintain working relationships with a wide variety of people. We’re looking for a resilient, self-motivated individual who is empathetic towards the needs of Housing First tenants and the wider community. We expect this role to be challenging, but ultimately very rewarding.

We welcome applications from a wide variety of backgrounds, but we would be particularly interested in hearing from people with experience in supporting vulnerable adults (for example in a health, social care or housing setting)

The successful applicant will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
