Are you an experienced Housing Options Officer who has a passion for finding housing solutions for your customers? There is an exciting opportunity to work with local residents, landlords and local organisations in West Northamptonshire to find suitable housing solutions for local residents.
Who we are:
West Northamptonshire Council is the single unitary Council responsible for providing a range of public services to residents and businesses in the areas of Daventry, Northampton and South Northants.

We are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Housing Options Officer to join the fantastic Daventry team, whose key focus will be to:

Take ownership, working on your own initiative to see cases through from the initial approach to Main Duty decision or discharge of duty.
Undertake negotiations with landlords, family and friends to find solutions to prevent and/or relieve homelessness.
Provide clients and organisations with detailed advice on a wide range of housing law issues.
Put customers at the heart of everything you do.
Utilise your working knowledge of homelessness legislation, landlord and tenant law and current guidance/directives on choice based lettings schemes to negotiate and produce tailored personalised housing plans for customers who are threatened with homelessness, in line with current legislation.
Assess applicants in line with local policy for nomination to the local registered social landlords. Build strong partnerships across the community with various agencies and services (both statutory and voluntary) to help prevent homelessness and develop community resilience.
Where prevention and relief activity is unsuccessful, determine whether the main duty is owed to the customer using detailed investigations and applying guidance and complex caselaw.

With a passion for collaborative multi-agency working you will have excellent oral and written communication skills.You will be outcome focused, a clear thinker, a great motivator, and a skilled and accomplished negotiator with the ability to work under pressure.

You will be required to provide a personal statement as part of the application form to demonstrate how you meet the person specification.

To meet the requirements of this key role you must be able to manage a busy caseload of homeless and housing register applications, motivate customers to engage with actions as part of their Personalised Housing Plan (PHP), achieve high standards of customer care, and ensure that work is carried out in line with housing legislation and the Council's policies and procedures.
