Are you ready to take the next step in your social work career and join us as an Independent Chair?

We are currently looking for an Independent Chair to join us on a full time, permanent basis.

Independent Chairs work within Safeguarding and Quality Assurance and are responsible for chairing statutory Child in Care Reviews and Child Protection Conferences. This is a great opportunity to apply your skills and expertise to a very fulfilling role which holds significant responsibility for children. Initially you would be managing a caseload of children in care (ie as an IRO) and there would be the opportunity for you to gradually balance this with some child protection cases as well.

The role requires a social work qualification with at least 5 years post qualifying experience in the field of social work with children. As an Independent Chair, you will be asked to chair Reviews and Conferences and will take the lead in ensuring the plans for children are SMART. Your work will involve developing relationships with children and their families ensuring that the child’s voice is central to the planning. You will also need to have the skills to communicate effectively with the multi-agency network, and the confidence to escalate any issues of drift or delay directly to senior managers where necessary.

This is an agile working role and the successful candidate will need to able to travel to meetings both in and out of county. There will be opportunities for working from an office base (location can be flexible) as well as from home.

You would be joining a friendly and supportive team of Independent Chairs. We are passionate about your development and you will be supported in your role through regular 1:1 supervision. We also have monthly meetings with the opportunity to add agenda items for discussion and debate.

Benefits include a competitive salary between £43,597.00 and £46,875.00 (pro-rata for part time roles), generous annual leave entitlement (28 days plus Bank Holidays), local government pension scheme, a supportive management team and excellent training and career progression.
