West Northamptonshire Council is a unitary council responsible for providing a range of public services to residents and businesses in the areas of Daventry, Northampton and South Northamptonshire. The new council has replaced Daventry District Council, Northampton Borough Council and South Northamptonshire Council, and now delivers all the services previously provided by these councils.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager to join our exciting Defra-funded Innovative Flood Resilience project, seeking to combine flood resilience measures at three scales: catchment, community and property, to increase the resilience to flood risk in the affected communities.

The Project Manager role will be responsible for the day-to-day management of multiple delivery partners and consultants delivering various work packages within the project, as well as delivering discrete elements of the project. Therefore, candidates will need to be able to demonstrate experience of successful project management, as well as working with multiple stakeholders and partners.

To ensure that the project delivers on its aims to be innovative, the post holder will need to be able to challenge standard approaches and ways of working and be able to demonstrate resourcefulness and ability to work with others in solving problems. Whilst knowledge of flood risk management would be a benefit, it is not essential to the post if transferrable skills can be demonstrated.

The full extent of the role and candidate requirements are set out in the attached job description.

This is a fixed term role until 30 March 2027.

The post reports to the Innovative Flood Resilience Programme Manager within Assets and Environment, and will be part of the Flood and Water Management Team, which delivers the Council’s Lead Local Flood Authority functions.

For further information or an informal discussion, please contact Ruth Burnham, Senior Flood and Water Officer, by email Ruth.Burnham@westnorthants.gov.uk or phone 07464 923072.
