Public Health Northamptonshire is responsible for a range of public health services that improve health and wellbeing, prevent ill-health, and reduce health inequalities on behalf of the residents of Northamptonshire. We are part of a local the Northamptonshire Suicide Prevention Partnership Forum, which brings together key stakeholders across North and West Northamptonshire with the aim of improving the lives of local people by focussing action on suicide and self-harm prevention.

We are seeking Project Officer to join our team on a fixed term basis to support the local Suicide Prevention Programme. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and understanding of suicide prevention, as well as knowledge and awareness of mental health and promoting mental wellbeing. They will have good partnership working skills, and have experience of working with statutory and voluntary sector services.

The post holder will undertake work to develop a better understanding of local data, either via a real time surveillance system or other approaches to data gathering and analysis, and will develop a close working relationship with the local Coroner’s office. The role will also include raising awareness and knowledge of best practice in relation to suicide prevention among staff working in health and social care settings.

Following Local Government Transformation, North Northamptonshire Council will be the employing organisation for this post and the role covers both North and West Northamptonshire areas.
