Children and young people come into local authority care for many reasons. We believe that every child and young person deserves to feel safe and secure and encouraged to reach their full potential.

We’re looking for foster carers to support children and young people and we need people who are empathetic, caring, resilient and open minded. The process of becoming a foster carer normally takes between four and six months and we will support you every step of the way.

We welcome enquiries from people who wish to foster for Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough City Council. Our carers foster carers receive allowances and benefits whilst a child/young person is in your care.

Our offer:

• To help you feel reassured we provide round the clock ‘out of hours’ support should you need it.
• A dedicated supervising social worker who will provide regular supervision and support.
• Generous mileage allowance, setting up fee for furniture and equipment, two weeks additional basic maintenance payments for holidays, birthdays allowance, a festivities allowance, initial clothing and school uniform allowance.
• Free membership and enrolment with Foster Talk and the Fostering Network
• Provide continued professional development and training with the opportunity to attend a wide range of training offered across the Fostering Service, including bespoke training that will help you progress your fostering career.
• A clear pathway of progression as a foster carer for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Fostering Service.

There are lots of different types of fostering available for the right people and their families. Enthusiasm and commitment to support the needs of children in care is needed as well as having a spare bedroom and being over 21.
