An exciting opportunity has arisen in The Disabled Children Referral and Access Team in CCC. We are looking to recruit to a one year fixed term position with the possibility of becoming permanent. We are seeking a Social Worker who is eager to progress and be part of a service that is dedicated to providing the best outcomes for children with disabilities in Cambridgeshire. This is an opportunity for you to be part of a dynamic assessment team, the front door to disability social care. The role is county wide, with an office base at the Buttsgrove Centre, Huntingdon.

We believe in giving Young People and their Families choice, control and flexibility in how they manage their support needs, and the right to access inclusive services and be part of their own community. Social workers will be expected to use Person Centred Planning approaches in seeking the views, wishes and feelings of the children and young people.

The Disability Social Care 0-25 Service is recruiting a Social Worker for our Disabled Children’s Referral and Access Team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a lively and dynamic team which acts as the first point of contact for all new referrals for disabled children requiring a social care assessment across Cambridgeshire. The team regularly undertake safeguarding enquiries and therefore experience of statutory safeguarding practice is required.

This is a fixed term position, with the possibility of becoming permanent. We are looking for a qualified social worker with at least 1 year post qualifying experience who is highly motivated, experienced and committed to working with Disabled Children and their families. The role offers excellent training opportunities and a chance to play a real part in the creation of something great.

We recognise the importance of transferable skills and we provide a focused induction, so there is no requirement to have previous experience of working within an assessment or disability team.

For many Social Workers, it is about making a difference. When you work in the Disabled Children Referral and access team, you really can.

Don’t just take our word for it, here’s what some of our current team members have to say:

“I was given opportunities for regular supervisions as well as reflective supervisions from the team manager and the senior practitioner.”

“I joined the Disabled Children Referral and Access Team almost 2 years ago without any front door assessment experience and received all the support needed to become an effective practitioner”

This is a great opportunity for you to work within a diverse and supportive team who will empower you to make important decisions and find creative solutions to challenging situations.

We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Cambridgeshire and want our workforce to reflect this diversity, which we believe is beneficial for our employees, the organisation and the communities we serve.

Get in touch with us today by calling either Joanne Reed (Team Manager) on 01480 372767 ( or Josie Lynn (Service Manager) on 07881517072 ( for an informal chat.
