Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough City Council have embarked on an ambitious, innovative programme of work to deliver better education services through sharing and integrating our leadership and delivery. As a result, we are looking for a Strategic Lead for School Governance, to lead our school governance team across both authorities. This is an exciting opportunity to develop a brand new role and lead the development of our offer across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, in order to make a difference to children and young people in our area by supporting and challenging school governing bodies to improve their school.

The successful candidate will lead a team of three experienced Area Lead Governance Advisers in challenging, monitoring and supporting governing bodies to improve the effectiveness of school leadership. The School Governance Team works with all phases of schools and in both maintained schools and academies, across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

To make a success of this role, will you need drive, energy and the ability to set a clear strategic vision for our School Governance Team going into the future. You will have gained a deep understanding of school leadership or governance, through experience of senior leadership in schools, or extensive experience as a member of a governing body, or a similar role within a Local Authority. You should be able to demonstrate a strong track record of school improvement and leadership in a school or to the quality and effectiveness of a Local Authority School Governance Team. The successful candidate will have secure understanding the links between outstanding school governance and school improvement and current Education legislation relating to governance in schools and academies.

Whilst this post is advertised this as a permanent position, a secondment may be considered for the right candidate.
