Our Service
Children’s Services in Northamptonshire have been transforming; not only are we continuing to improve the services we offer our children, young people and families but we have also made improvements to the working environment for our staff. This has been recognised in the recent Ofsted monitoring visit at the front door in January. The inspection found the operating model in the MASH enables safeguarding concerns to be progressed promptly, and more consistent decision making and application of thresholds that did not leave children at risk of harm. Improved partnership communication and understanding of roles have been acknowledged whilst there is still work to do to further develop the partnership.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Manager, with current Social Work England registration and previous leadership experience in a strategic role, to lead on the MASH and the partnership arrangements, with a clear remit to ensure a safe and continuously improving multi-agency safeguarding response in the MASH and to lead on the development of the Early Help Partnership across Northamptonshire. The right candidate will have demonstrable change management and continuous improvement skills to support Northamptonshire Children First on its improvement journey.
Our teams are based in Brackmills, Northampton at the Criminal Justice Centre and consist of a Service Manager, Team Managers, Social Workers, Decision Makers, MASH Officers and Business Support Administrators. Support from Early Help and Strategic Partners (police, health, education) is part of the MASH arrangements. Your role will be to lead and manage the service to provide the highest quality front line multi-agency safeguarding services while continually driving improvement in practice and performance.

The Person

You will have strong leadership skills and be passionate about supporting the service to ensure Children improve their outcomes and have the best possible futures. You will be the lead for quality and improvement within the MASH Service, support and promote the use of management and performance information; analysing key data to assess the quality of front-line practice, make improvement recommendations and evaluating the impact; develop the strategic partnership by liaising with key partners to provide focused, strategic development of the system wide Children and Young People’s Strategic Partnership, including Early Help strategy and offer across the partnership.
Your experience could have been gained in MASH, Duty & Assessment or First Response in Children’s Services and to be successful in this role you will need to have proven management experience. The role would report to the Assistant Director, Early Help & Safeguarding.
