Strategic SEND Support Team Specialist Teacher – full time
Teachers pay and conditions
Salary MPS/UPS plus SEN allowance up to £4479 depending on qualifications

The Strategic SEND Support team work with schools across Cambridgeshire as part of the wider SEND Service. The team comprises a small group of Specialist Teachers who have leadership and SENCO experience plus a wide range of SEND skills which they use to support the development of others to meet the needs of children and young people across the four broad areas of need.

A key area of work for the team is the establishment of two accredited nationally recognised diploma courses in dyslexia and literacy barriers to learning. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of this area, which will be explored at interview. Holding additional qualifications in dyslexia and barriers to literacy learning would be a distinct advantage, as would Master level study in any associated area of SEND.

A significant part of the role includes delivery of nationally accredited training in SEND, including the National Award for SEN Co-ordination and a range of other quality assured qualifications. Assessing, marking and moderation of coursework is integral to the role, as is providing individual tutor support. An understanding of the academic requirements of Masters level study is therefore expected.
All team members will be working in schools as a SENCO for time limited periods throughout the year, so demonstrating a good understanding of the requirements at an operational level will be an important element of your application, as is the ability to establish professional relationships quickly.

The ideal post holder will have experience as a SENCO, will have a broad knowledge of SEND in mainstream schools, have some leadership experience, be solution-focused and have a strong belief in enabling others. You need to be self-motivated, have good time management skills and be as comfortable working collegiately as you are independently to deadlines. If you hold QTS, have additional qualifications at the appropriate levels and can demonstrate the potential to develop into the role, then we would be interested in speaking to you, even if you do not yet have all of the desirable elements on the job description.
