Qualified Teacher of the Deaf in charge of the Secondary-Aged Hearing Support Centre

Main or Upper Pay Scale for Teachers plus TLR 2.1 plus1/2 SEN (– actual salary dependent on individual’s qualifications and previous relevant experience)

This post offers an exciting and interesting opportunity for a successful, committed and motivated Teacher/Teacher of the Deaf to lead the Hearing Support Centre in one of Cambridgeshire’s two Hearing Support Centres (HSC) based in a mainstream school.

The Sensory Support team needs an experienced Teacher, with insight and knowledge of how to deliver bespoke interventions and lead a team of specialist Teaching Assistants. In our inclusive mainstream settings you will be working with individuals and groups of students who have a profound to severe hearing loss.
You will need to work closely with mainstream teachers, support staff, pupils, parents and the wider community to ensure that deaf students have full access to the curriculum and consistently make good progress. You will also be expected to take a lead within the Sensory Support Team on Key Stage 1, 2 or 3,4 curriculum and resources as well as having line management responsibilities.

You will be a qualified and experienced Teacher of the Deaf or willing to undertake training to become qualified and will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of excellent teaching & learning practice including supporting a range of learning styles. Applicants may also be required to work in other locations when necessary so must be willing and able to travel efficiently.
As part of the interview process you will be asked to plan an intervention based on a language assessment which will be provided prior to your interview.
