An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Disability Social Care 0-25 Service specialist Disabled Children’s Social Work Team, based in Cambridge. We are seeking to recruit a Team Manager to join us on a fixed term basis to cover Maternity Leave. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and be part of a lively and dynamic team full time for 1 year.

As the Team Manager you will play an important role in delivering a needs-led professional service ensuring that children and young people with a disability benefit from the best possible outcomes and are prepared for their transition into adulthood.

You will have relevant experience working in Children’s Social Care and be familiar with child protection systems and processes, court work and working with children who are looked after. You should also have knowledge of statutory requirements and local procedures with regards to children living with a disability, and their families. To be successful in this role you will have an understanding of relevant SEND legislation and policy, and knowledge of the factors that lead to improved outcomes for children and young people with SEND. You will be responsible for managing risk and supporting children and young people assessed as being children in need, at risk of significant harm or for whom the Local Authority is a Corporate Parent. You will also be able to demonstrate you have the ability to lead and manage a team of staff comprising of a Senior Practitioner, Social Workers and a Child Practitioner.

The applicant will be able to demonstrate that they can think creatively in delivering targeted support, will have a significant level of knowledge and experience in children's social care, understanding thresholds and will have proven experience in managing a team of social work staff. This role will include work allocation, performance monitoring, dealing with staffing issues and the training and development of the Team.

As part of the 0 – 25 Management team, we are dedicated to supporting you. We have regular supervision so that we can focus on your development and progression. You will also be part of regular peer sessions so that you can share concerns and experiences. We are a strong team who communicate well and support each other to put children at the centre of everything we do. We would love for you to join us and experience this for yourself.
