Our Service
Children’s Services at Northamptonshire are in an exciting period of significant transformation as we move into a Children’s Trust which will deliver services for two new unitary authorities across the county.
The Disabled Children’s Team is a team of highly motivated staff who are committed to achieving the best outcomes for children and young people.
The Team Manager should ideally have experience of working with Children with children with Disabilities and complex needs and their families. The Team Manager will supervise Social Workers and Family Support Workers with a range of cases from Child in Need, Child protection, care proceedings and Children in care and permanence.
The Team Manager needs to be passionate about improving the outcomes for some of the most vulnerable children in the County. Strong skills in multi-agency work are essential to the role as we work closely with our colleagues in Education, Health and the voluntary sector. All candidates needs to have a commitment to Signs of Safety as this will be the model that will be key to our improvement journey.

The Role
We are seeking a Team Manager, with current Social Work England registration, and previous leadership experience in a similar role. You will provide leadership to your team, who will consist of a Consultant Social Worker, 5 to 6 Social Workers, a family support worker and a business support administrator. You will be responsible for allocating and prioritising workloads effectively to ensure the care of the child is paramount, whilst also ensuring you develop your team to provide an effective and efficient service. The right candidate will have responsibility for the team plan to meet objectives and ensure performance targets are achieved.

The Person
The right candidate will be a qualified Social Worker, with current Social Work England registration, and ideally with a Level 5 NVQ Management qualification, or equivalent relevant experience. You will have the ability to manage a team and ensure development and performance issues are addressed though support and coaching. You will have previous budgetary control experience, ICT skills and the ability to represent the service at a more senior level if required.

Northamptonshire County Council are creating Northamptonshire Children’s Trust which comes into being on the 1st November 2020. This position will be TUPE transferred into the Children’s Trust at that point.
This post is covered by the statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English is an essential requirement for the role.
