About the team -
West Northamptonshire Council’s Waste team look after a diverse range of waste services including collecting resident's waste and recycling from the kerbside, providing household waste recycling centres, and making arrangements for the safe treatment, recycling and disposal of all materials collected. The waste team also manages a number of closed landfill sites and is responsible for street cleansing throughout the area.

About the role
The Waste Health and Safety is a new post, with funding secured from the 22-23 budget setting process.

The role of the Waste Health and Safety Officer will be to audit and oversee the systems required for safe working as waste services are delivered, both directly by WNC employees, and also its contractors. The post will compliment (not duplicate) the work of the corporate H&S team. However, the risks presented by the waste services are significant and the organisation must ensure sufficient oversight and evidence that the risks have been managed.

About you
You will need to have Prior experience of work place health and safety policies and requirements, a relevant H&S qualification e.g. NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent and Good IT skills including databases and spreadsheets.
