Are you passionate about working with local communities to improve their health? Have you the skills to lead a diverse team overseeing an exciting asset based community development programme?

We are recruiting for a Community Development Team Leader with those skills. The Community Development Team Leader will lead a team of 3.5 FTE posts focussing on identified neighbourhoods in Daventry and Northampton localities and working with Inclusion Health groups across West Northamptonshire area. The team are working with disadvantaged communities and vulnerable groups to understand assets needs and to work in partnership with them to improve health and wellbeing outcomes.

West Northamptonshire Council is the single unitary council responsible for providing a range of public services to residents and businesses in the areas of Northampton, Daventry, Towcester and Brackley.

This post is funded by Northamptonshire Public Health and will galvanise a team embedded within local communities and will have a key role in working in partnership with local organisations and people.

The key focus of the roles will be:

• To lead an effective team delivering a high quality, high impact Well Northants programme across West Northamptonshire. This will include performance monitoring, management, and associated responsibilities
• Work with Public Health on the development and delivery of the Well Northants project and strategy
• Development volunteering and training opportunities and management of volunteers
• Development and delivery of community grants


We are especially keen to hear from you if you have a background in leading teams in community settings, an understanding of health inequalities relevant to West Northamptonshire, and an understanding of community development and how co-production works and its strengths in empowering communities.

Spot Salary: £ 35,938 p.a

The council is in the process of implementing a new pay structure and terms and conditions which will be applicable to this role. The outcome could result in a future variation to the advertised salary and this will be discussed at interview.
