ChYpPS (The Children & Young People’s Participation Service) at Cambridge City Council are looking for staff to help us to deliver a diverse seasonal play activity programme to school aged children and their families in Cambridge. Sessions will mainly be open air and open access.
You will be required to take an active role within the delivery of activities with a particular focus on participation and interaction.
We’re going to be out and about across the city playing on parks and open spaces.

We need people who will participate fully within all aspects of the play programme, don’t mind getting messy or wet, can throw themselves into any activity, make something out of nothing (we use a lot of scrap materials) and can try their hand at anything. You will work as part of a team, ensuring a range of activities are delivered at all times.

You will need to demonstrate that you are highly motivated and reliable, with lots of initiative and ideas for getting people involved. You don’t need to be qualified but some experience of working with children/young people will help. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the need and issues of young people and a basic understanding of health and safety and safeguarding, however, we will provide training in these areas.

We do need you to work flexible sessions, mostly after school, daytime in the holidays and some weekends and to be able to get yourself around the city. Knowledge of the city would be useful but not essential.

The successful applicants will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
