Cambridgeshire County Council are looking to recruit a Social Access Fleet Manager. You will be responsible for the management of our Fleet of Mercedes Sprinter and Renault Master wheel chair accessible mini buses. You will also manage our fleet of cars (some also wheelchair accessible). The vehicles are located at our Huntingdon depot and various establishments across the County.
The fleet provides social access to a variety of establishments for a service users with varying degrees of mobility. The fleet is split between residential vehicles (operated at and by the relevant establishment) and regular services to day centres. The latter service is provided by vehicles and drivers managed by the Fleet Manager; with the support of the senior driver. We also deliver respite transport for service users to various locations across the County as and when required.
You will have previous experience of multiple vehicle operations or fleet management. You will be an effective organiser who can manage and work with multiple stakeholders. You will be innovative and able to work flexibly when issues arise; to ensure continuity of transport for service users. You will ensure all vehicles are roadworthy and legal; through the delivery of vehicle safety checks and by ensuring all maintenance is carried out as and when required and in accordance with the agreed maintenance schedule. You will also ensure tail lifts are maintained and certified as appropriate for all relevant vehicles.
You will be a competent risk assessor, able to produce risk assessments in accordance with the requirements of the Health and Safety at work act 1974. This will encompass risk assessments for all aspects of the transport operation, including but not limited to: all depot operations; operation of the vehicles; driver related risk assessments; operation of tail lifts. You will also need to be competent to risk assess service users for all aspects of transport/journey’s we provide (place of residence or current location to destination).

To support all of the above you will also have a relevant training qualification in relation to wheelchair accessible vehicles (covering embarkation and disembarkation of wheelchairs; securing wheel chairs in the vehicle with use of appropriate safety webbing). This will enable you to produce a training prospectus for delivery to Council Staff by the Fleet Manager as and when required.
