East Cambridgeshire District is looking for a highly organised and enthusiastic Qualified Environmental Health Practitioner who has detailed knowledge of the law relating to Environmental Health and investigative techniques on a fixed term basis.

As part of the ongoing effort to contain Covid-19 and the recognition of the important role Environmental Health Officers play in assisting in delivering at a local level through; community engagement to build trust and participation, preventing infection, business compliance, contact tracing and deployment of capabilities including enforcement.

In this post you will be required to carry out work in a variety of settings on Covid-19 compliance and prevention, which will include visiting HMO’s, other shared accommodation and in some cases, some business’s premises. Competency in and recent experience of enforcing housing, nuisance and public health legislation is highly desirable for this post. A general all round knowledge of all aspects of Environmental Health including Envirocrime, Food and health and safety would also be useful.

To apply for this role, ?you must possess a Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health (or equivalent) and be EHRB registered or have or be working towards Chartered Status with the CIEH. Applicants without EHRB registration but able to demonstrate extensive, relevant experience in housing enforcement, will also be considered.

The starting salary for a qualified EHO is £34,728 (Scale 7).

Due to the nature of the job permanent access to a car and a full driver’s licence is essential.
