Independent Remuneration Panel Member

We are looking for people, passionate about Huntingdonshire, to join an Independent Remuneration Panel (IRP) to help review our Members’ Allowances Scheme.
This is a voluntary position and as such unremunerated and we are seeking people who can commit X hours per month and attend X meetings per year (usually held once every quarter, in Huntingdon, evenings 6pm-8pm)
We are required to have a Members’ Allowances Scheme whereby councillors (elected members) are entitled to fair allowances and expenses to cover the basic costs of carrying out their duties. This helps ensure people from all walks of life have the opportunity to act as local representatives. Allowances recognise that people are offering their time to act as elected representatives of local people so provide some financial recompense.
Experience of local government, financial expertise, commercial skills, community relations expertise would be advantageous.

You will be required to judge the relative value of different roles undertaken by elected members, ask questions, make recommendations and present findings.

For more information about the role and eligibility for appointment, please visit https://www.huntingdonshire.gov.uk/jobs/current-vacancies/

Applications should be returned by Monday 30 November 2020.
