We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Internal Auditor to join our small Audit team. The role will be responsible for delivery of the risk-based Audit Plan undertaking audits, from risk-based systems reviews to quick light-touch overviews, across all Council services and consultancy activities which drive positive change. You will be part of a statutory function that provides assurance to our stakeholders that our services are well-run and that resources are well-managed.

You can be a part or fully qualified audit professional, who ideally has experience from a local government or similar regulatory environment.

With your critical analysis and problem-solving skills, you will provide clear and concise advice on governance, risk and internal control, you will be capable of independent working and managing a varied workload with minimal supervision.

You must be an excellent communicator and negotiator and be able to build relationships and provide consultancy advice, inspire trust, respect and credibility from people at all levels.

You will be part of our small dedicated Internal Audit Team which provides both assurance and consultancy services across the Council. You will also be part of our wider Risk & Control Group which pulls together other compliance functions. As a group we seek to improve the skills and capability of our internal customers in risk management and work proactively to prevent problems before they arise.

The team structure consists of an Audit Manager and two auditors, and reports to the Council’s Corporate Governance Committee and Senior Leadership Team.

We are currently working full remotely for the foreseeable future when we anticipate returning to the office on a flexible basis which will still include work from home and flexi time opportunities but candidates should be within commutable distance of our offices in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire or able to attend meetings as required if further afield.
